Visa Information
Participants travelling to Granada should check Spain’s entry and visa requirements before their trip. Citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland do not need a visa and may travel with a valid passport or national ID card. Nationals of some other countries may enter Spain visa-free for short stays (up to 90 days within a 180-day period), while others must apply for a Schengen short-stay visa in advance. Visa applicants are usually required to provide a valid passport, application form, photos, proof of accommodation, travel itinerary, sufficient financial means, and travel medical insurance. As requirements vary by nationality and may change, please consult the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, Unión Europea y Cooperación or your nearest Spanish consulate for the most up-to-date information.
Visa support letters are available upon request through the conference system which requires a personal login. Visa letters will only be issued to:
- Speakers and Presenters
- Authors
- Committee members
- Attendees who have paid their registration fee in full (payment will be verified)
- Exhibitors who have paid their exhibitor fee in full
If you have not registered yourself previously please create a new account in the conference system. After you have logged in successfully go to “My Profile”, click the tab “Request Visa Support Letter” and follow the instructions. Visa letters will be issued based upon your role (presenter, author, exhibitor, attendees, committee members) and the current status of your activities (accepted paper as oral/poster, registered for the conference or paid fee).

International flights to Madrid and Barcelona connect to Granada with a 1 hour stopover and the duration of the flight is about 45 minutes.
Malaga International Airport
Malaga International Airport (Pablo Picasso) has over 80 international destinations from all over the world in addition to its national connections. This international hub is approximately 2 hours away from Granada.
How to reach Granada
Travelling between Málaga and Granada is straightforward, with several convenient options covering the roughly 125-kilometre journey. The fastest and most comfortable choice is the train, which departs from Málaga María Zambrano Station and reaches Granada in about 1 hour and 15–30 minutes. Services are operated by Renfe, offering modern seating and scenic views as the route crosses the Andalusian countryside.
Direct intercity buses provide an economical alternative, typically taking between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2½ hours depending on the number of stops. These routes are mainly run by ALSA and operate frequently throughout the day. For travelers seeking flexibility, driving via the A-92 motorway takes around 90 minutes and allows time to explore picturesque villages or viewpoints along the way, making the journey itself part of the Andalusian experience.
- International Travel
For both national and international travelers, reaching Granada is easy and convenient. The city is served by Granada-Jaén Airport (GRX), located just 15 km from the city center, offering flights from major Spanish cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville, as well as select international routes from Europe. For wider international connections, many visitors fly into Málaga (Costa del Sol Airport, AGP), about 125 km away, and continue to Granada by train, bus, or car. Málaga offers more frequent flights and budget-friendly options, making it a popular gateway for international travelers.
- Travel by Train
Domestic travel to Granada is well supported by an efficient train network. High-speed and regional trains connect the city with major Spanish destinations including Madrid, Seville, and Málaga. The journey from Málaga takes about 1 hour 15–30 minutes, while travel from Madrid is roughly 3½ hours. Operated by Renfe, trains are comfortable, reliable, and provide scenic views of the Andalusian landscape.
- Travel by Bus
Bus services also link Granada with cities across Andalucía and nearby regions. Buses are economical and frequent, taking about 1 hour 45 minutes from Málaga and longer from more distant locations. Services are primarily operated by ALSA, providing a convenient option for budget-conscious travelers. - Travel by Car
For those who prefer flexibility, travelling by car allows stops at picturesque towns and natural viewpoints along the route. Granada is well connected via the A-92 and A-44 highways, with the drive from Málaga taking approximately 1 hour 30 minutes and about 3 hours from Seville.
