MIC Plenary II starts here on Thursday, 10 November, 2022, 8:30 am (CET).

Dear Colleagues & friends,

from the depth of our hearts, WELCOME!

WELCOME to each of you to the 2022 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium (NSS), Medical Imaging Conference (MIC) and Room Temperature Semiconductor Detector (RTSD) Conference! Yes, after two difficult years we again have the chance to meet in person and speak in front of an audience! Back to Europe, back to Italy. WELCOME to Milano!

Due to the persistence of the pandemic, the organizing committee decided allow also remote access to the 2022 IEEE NSS-MIC-RTSD for people who are unable to come running a hybrid event. However, in person participation is warmly encouraged to profit most of the conference potential and to meet old and new friends and colleagues.

The IEEE NSS-MIC-RTSD is a unique meeting in the field of radiation detectors and instrumentation, with a broad range of applications, fields of study and experiences of the attendees and presenters – academics, engineers, medical physicists, and physicians. The synergy created by the joining of the NSS, MIC and RTSD offers a networking potential to boost your scientific creativity, to exchange ideas, share and create knowledge in the radiation detector and electronics technology, nuclear science, medical imaging, environmental monitoring and space exploration fields.

The 2022 IEEE NSS-MIC-RTSD will take place at the Milano Convention Centre, Milano, Italy, from November 5th to November 12th, during the Indian Summer period (Estate di San Martino, in Italian). Milano is a vibrant city, one of Europe’s major financial and business centers, considered to be the capital of design and fashion, hosts 8 universities and is a great city to live and work and make connections in. In one sentence, an international city with an Italian heart. Come and see for yourself!

The Organizing Committee is planning an outstanding scientific program with oral and parallel sessions, an industrial exhibition, visionary workshops and interesting and up-to-date short courses. There will be ample time to meet your colleagues and to relax walking in the town.

The Milano Convention Centre (MiCo) is the largest Convention Centre in Europe – a certified Silver Healthy Venue. MiCo is located in the city, only a short distance from the downtown area where the Duomo (Milano cathedral), il Castello Sforzesco (the Castle), il Cenacolo by Leonardo da Vinci and La Scala (Opera theatre) are located. The extensive underground connects the MiCo district to the whole town.

MiCo offers safe, comfortable and large spaces for oral and poster sessions, group meetings and gatherings, social events and informal networking in a clean and modern facility. The area of the industrial exhibition is ample and in the core of the Conference Centre, giving the unique chance for industries to share their latest and traditional products and for the attendees the opportunity to explore the new frontiers in radiation detectors, signal processing electronics, medical imaging equipment and related technologies and applications. This will be a welcome feature after the forced long time of virtual meetings. The outside area has a large park and a food area that welcomes and promotes meeting together again, paving the way to our new future.

Milano is in the center of IEEE Region 8 and easily reachable from all over the world, making the 2022 conference of special interest to new groups of scientists who will be able to participate and learn from the large and diverse group of people that regularly attend every year. As in the past, the organizing committee has put enormous efforts to obtain support for students, postdocs, and young researchers to enable them to participate.

Accommodation in Milano is not a problem! Choose your preferred accommodation style, from hotels at walking distance or located in other parts of the city to a room or short-term apartment rental. A wide range of rates including those suitable for student accommodation are available. Consider extending your stay and making the most of the opportunities for pre- and post-conference travel in Italy and around Europe.

On behalf of all the members of our outstanding organizing committee, we look forward to warmly welcoming each of you in Milano for the 2022 IEEE NSS-MIC-RTSD.

Stay tuned!
